Bristol driving test centres

Bristol's Brislington centre no longer operates, so tests in the city now run from Avonmouth in the west and Kingswood in the east. If you learned on south Bristol roads, both remaining centres are reachable via the ring road — pick whichever side of the city matches where you have practised most.

It mostly comes down to which roads you know. Avonmouth sits near the docks and the M5 junctions, so its routes lean on dual carriageways, roundabouts and industrial roads; Kingswood's routes run through busier residential east Bristol with tighter junctions and more parked cars. Examiners mark to the same DVSA standard at both, so familiarity beats any perceived difference in difficulty.

Plenty of Bristol learners do. Weston-super-Mare is about 20 miles down the M5 and its test routes cover quieter seaside-town roads than central Bristol. Check the waits in the table above — if one Bristol centre is heavily booked, Weston can be a practical way to test sooner, as long as you can fit in some practice on its roads first.

Book directly through the official DVSA booking service on GOV.UK — it is the only place tests are sold. You can book at any of the three centres regardless of where you live, and checking all of them with some flexibility on time of day is usually the quickest way to an earlier slot.
